The room and bathroom were perfect. Clean, spacious and with all the things in your room and bathroom you could possibly need. Breakfast was really good and cooked to order with a good choice. The surroundings of Woodside were absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful views, peaceful and within a lovely walk down to the the village where there were some nice shops, a great theatre, plenty to see and lovely restaurants. Our hosts were really nice people and couldn't do enough for us to make our stay enjoyable. Value for money was excellent, far better than a hotel where you would pay more and get less. We will definately return.
Location
There are so many things to see here. A visit or two to the theatre during the festival in August is a must. The scenery and walks around the village and along the river is beautiful. The added bonus for travellers without a car is that there is a railway station there. The village is kept very clean with lots of hanging flower baskets around the village and a pretty garden in the park. We were not there long enough to visit the Bells whiskey distillary or see all the attractions so worth another visit to this lovely area.

Good standard of accommodation and food. Welcoming hostess. Nothing negative.

Fishing is good but the booking process is far easier over the internet than using Ballater local facilities.
Eating out after 8pm (especially on Mondays) is quite restricted. Chippy closes earlier too and the local Chinese was a great alternative and good food

Impeccably clean room and beautifully ironed bedlinen changed daily. Able to come and go to the room throughout the day (front door key provided). Food of an excellent standard and all the choices you could wish for. Very welcoming and friendly hosts who were very much part of the local scene and informative about facilities available for visitors.

I took part in the Ballater walking festival which was organised very well with an excellent choice of walks, good leaders and an interesting programme of evening entertainment. Throughly recommended
