Visitor Reviews of Woodend B&B - Overall Rating 4

Hospitality and welcome were excellent. Mary MacDonald was a very good host.
The double bedroom was a little small with only a rail for hanging clothes and we shared the one bathroom/lavatory with a pair of bikers. However as this was only a one night stay it was not a problem. The bedroom was painted throughout in a strong shocking pink which did not rest easily on the eyes!
The breakfast was a traditional English breakfast with porridge - well cooked and tasty.
I would recommend the B and B for one night stays.
Location
Lots of nearby places of interest - Fort William and the Hogwart's Express to Mallaig. The Gondola and Nevis range and Glencoe were nearby. Excellent area for both serious walkers and those who like a more gentle walking.

We were given a warm welcome and the standard of the room and bathroom was very high.

The house and room we stayed in were absolutely lovely. It really felt like we were staying in a family home. The breakfast was also very good with a lot of variety for those who wanted cooked or uncooked breakfasts. We were a little later than planned, turning up at around 8pm but we telephoned ahead and that wasn't a problem. The only down side was that we were sharing a shower, toilet and sink with another room so it got a little crowded in the morning. The bathroom was lovely but it would have been better if we'd at least had a separate sink in our room.
Location
We were really just passing through but we climbed a bit of Ben Nevis which is a half hour drive or so away. And we also walked in Glencoe which is only 10 minutes away. The scenery is spectacular. We had our evening meal at the Isles of Glencoe hotel just across the main road from Ballachulish and the food there is really very good. They also have a small pool and leisure facilities which are open to non-residents and the views from the hotel are incredible.
