Visitor Reviews of Victoria Hotel Rothesay - Overall Rating 4

We booked three double rooms and found the standard to be variable despite the charge for the rooms being the same. One was large with large bathroom; one large with small bathroom - no cold water in handbasin; and one small with medium bathroom. Attitude of receptionist could be improved. Dining room was excellent - superb food and relaxed but efficient service at both dinner and breakfast.

Location

I was brought up in Rothesay and it is some years since I visited. I was appalled at the run-down state of the town, gaps between buildings and general lack of maintenance. The scenery is still amazing and Mount Stuart House is worth every penny of the enterance fee.

Always receive a good welcome and the staff are very friendly. Rooms are always clean and tidy. Really appreciate the extra touches such as the fruit & chocolates. Food is always of a good standard. Excellent value for money.

All facilities were excellent - rooms well appointed, warm and friendly atmosphere, excellent service from all staff, beautiful food, and tasteful surroundings Rates were good value for money and although a little more expensive than other accommodation in the area, well worth it.

Location

Port Bannatyne is beautiful and easily accessed by regular buses. We were visiting the island specifically to visit there as my mother had been evacuated there during the War. Also the Discovery Centre at the Winter Gardens in Rothesay is an excellent facility - lots of dvds of the history of the place and good quality souvenirs. All in all -a good trip down memory lane in a Scottish seaside town
