The location was superb. The flat was comfortable and adequate although the five flights of stairs with luggage was a challenge. The owner was extremely helpful and friendly.

Great location, clean and nicely decorated.. well stocked and friendly comms. with owner.
Somewhere to sit and eat would have been a plus - though on the whole we really enjoyed our stay.

Flat was clean (with fresh towels provided) and tidy, with facilities such as TV, DVD player, kitchen equipment (kettle, toaster, cooker, washing machine). It also had a nice personal touch with nice decor and fairy lights. Visitors who are not used to old European cities should be warned that the flat is very cosy as it's the top floor of an old tenement. And top floor in an old building means no lifts/elevators!
Communication with landlady and agent was good (emails prior to coming, exchange of mobile numbers) but she wasn't there to greet us as our train was 2hrs late. This was ok for us, as I am very familiar with Edinburgh and the area (and picked up our keys from the local pub!), but think a complete stranger would have benefited from a face2face welcome. Also it would have been good to have a 'local amenities' info sheet e.g. nearest supermarket 10mins walk away at other end of the Grassmarket (would have been useful to know, as convenience store opposite the flat extortionate and v limited).
Would have been good to have more hanging space in the bedroom, also darker curtains or way of shutting out the light (which, in the summer in Scotland, is v early in the morning!) and - also worth considering some sound-proofing, as that part of the Royal Mile is pretty noisy (bagpipes!)
Value for money - Edinburgh is an expensive place to stay, and this flat is not vastly cheaper or more expensive than anything else you'll find. Being so central, you at least save on transport, and doing your own cooking helps to keep cost down.
Location
Location is excellent - seconds from the Castle and St Giles, the Parliament, Holyrood Palace and Holyrood Park only 10-15mins walk away (and lots to see and do along the Royal Mile as you make your way down), and generally easy walking distance to both Old Town (Universtiy, Greyfriars Kirk, National Museum, the Meadows, etc), the Theatres and Princes Street. Also, v close to Waverley train station (about 5-10mins walk, tho we took a taxi when we arrived as we had heavy bags and it's uphill to get there!) and Waverley Bridge, which is the last/first stop for the Airport Shuttle bus
This makes it easy to spend just a weekend in Edinburgh and still see a fair amount, tho as a proud ex-Edinburgh citizen, I would recommend staying a lot longer!

The location of the apartment was fantastic.
The owner was extremely friendly and helpful - we had a few issues with the hot water in the flat and she tried her best to resolve this for us as quickly as possible which was really appreciated.
The apartment had lots of nice personal touches - which made it feel like a real home from home.
Location
We visited the Tattoo on the first night we were there - we didn't realise how close the apartment was - literally a 2 minute walk to the entrance! We also went to various shows on as part of the Fringe - everything was within walking distance. Getting to the apartment from the airport was also really easy - bus to Waverley Station and then a 5 minute walk! We would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Edinburgh.

The apartment at Upper Bow was excellent. It was clean, well presented and maintained, and also included a few basic provisions that were really useful (laundry detergent being very high on the list!).
The location was fantastic. (Although my husband found the five flights of stairs with our bags a little 'interesting' on the first day).
If I could offer a suggestion though, heavier curtains in the bedroom would be good. This did not detract from our visit, but is just a thought.
We loved it, thank you.

The apartment was nicely decorated, with comfortable furniture, with all aspects of everyday living considered. Although we did leave some information about the area, as this was the only thing lacking on our arrival.
Location
Excellent tourist facilities, plenty to do, we really do recommend the Witchery, near the castle to eat, expensive, but brilliant.
