The view from our room was a 5 star rating, the hospitality and our hostess good humor excellent.
When the undergoing restoration and renewal of the house and rooms are finished everything will be excellent. Nice to have acces to a refirgerator.
Location
The location right next to the canal and with a super view to the hills Tigh Na Mairi is a good starting point for touring Loch Ness, Fort Augustus and Glen Affric.

Extremely warm welcome for us, clean comfortable room with excellent view over the Lock system from our upstairs room. Assistance for any queries we had was immediate and valuable.
Breakfast was great with excellent quality, quantity and numerous choices available.
Location
Fort Augustus has a unique location that provides great history, back to around the 13th / 14th century, an interesting canal lock system well worth watching in action. Great walking tracks along the canal and also into the hills and valleys if needed. It is in easy reach of Inverness to the North East and Fort William to the South West. A stay of 6 days is probably enough, but if hiking and reading is your forte, you could stay for 2 weeks easily!!
Dining out for dinner is no problem - several quality eating houses available and well priced. We found the 'Boathouse', right on Loch Ness, excellent. Good menu, good food, and great view over the loch and the canal entrance. There are another 6 good establishments/cafes/pubs etc for snacks or meals. Also a grocery store. A very friendly local population. We will return.
