We had a wonderful experience staying at the Terrace Hotel. Everyone was very friendly, breakfast was delicious. They took care of moving our car and making sure the meter was paid when necessary. We didn't realize there would be many stairs to climb, but the view from our room was great overlooking the Firth of Forth.

Location

We were amazed at how close the walk was to the Palace of Holyroodhouse. The walk to the Royal Mile wasn't bad and if we didn't want to walk, if was just a short cab ride. A wide selection of restaurants are close by. All the road construction going on was a bit confusing when driving around.

Our room was at the top of the house and we had to walk up 70 stairs to reach it (no lift). The room was very clean and everything was provided. The housekeeping was excellent - fresh towels each day, replenishment of tea etc. Breakfast was provided and was very enjoyable. Overall good value for money.

Location

The hotel was a 10 minute walk from Prince's Street. Our reason for visiting Edinburgh was to attend a royal reception in Holyrood House which is open to the public and well worth a visit.

The room was a bit cramped, but clean and well equipped. Our host was very pleasant and informative. If we had any needs He was quick to take care of us. We enjoyed our stay and it was a good value.

Location

We loved the quiet street and being within walking distance of the Royal Mile and Calton Hill was perfect for us.

We had a very large room, with everything we needed i.e a shower, kettle, tv etc. The breakfast in the hotel was also very good, a large choice to choose from.

Location

Was a good 10 mins walk from Princes Street but I did not mind this.

The tenants are very friendly. The house dates from 1860. You can't compare with a modern standard building. I enjoy old houses because I also own a flat in an old house in Switzerland. Breakfast is only available until 9 am. This is too early if you are in holidays
