The standard of the room was really good. The beds were very comfortable, it was nicely decorated as was the hotel itself. It was an old building nicely furnished and with lots of charm. It is really close to the city center and all the attractions. Directly behind the hotel there is Crlton Hill with its spectacular view! It was a bit loud during the night because our room was leading to the front and the electric shower was quite a challenge but it was good for a laugh. Breakfast offered a good choice of food: from a typical fry to cereals and fruit. We were very satisfied with our stay at the Terrace Hotel, would chose it again and can truely recommend it. Very good value for the price.Host and staff were very friendly as well.

My room was a single with ensuite at the back of the building overlooking the garden. This meant that it was very quiet which I appreciated. The room sparkled and although the building is old and the rooms are pleasantly decorated it could do with a little update. However, the linens on the bed were beyond clean, the bathroom was scrubbed everyday with not a speck of dust or dirt and the toilet also was clean, clean.......the hairdryer in the room was appreciated as was the great TV. But the reason for me to stay there again on my next visit - the staff and the atmosphere. I especially wish to commend the young lady Justina who was a delight and made my visit even more wonderful.

Location

Of course the castle is the greatest attraction but Holyrood House is wonderful, just walking the royal mile is filled with the history of the eons. The best restaurants were, Port of Siam/Bangkok Bar the best Thai restaurant ever, (Broughton Road)of course Kushis, the Indian icon (Leith street) and any of the abundant pubs dotted around the city. The National Gallery on Princess has changing exhibitions and a wonderful collection of medieval through to modern times. Also the National Museum on Chambers.....wander for hours there.

The Hotel was very good--the room large and sunny and the bedding adequate. The location is superb and the price was appropriate. The breakfasts were quite good and plentiful. There was some misunderstanding when we first arrived, but and management was very accommodating. The bath facilities could use some updating. If there were a choice, I would rate it between good and excellent. I would certainly recommend it to friends.

We were fortunate enough to have a deluxe room with beautiful leather lounges, huge bed and a small adequate kitchen area. The other two couples we were travelling with also had lovely rooms so we were all satisfied. A lovely establishment.

Location

A short walk to hop on, hop off bus. We walked back (15 minutes or so) through the local botanical gardens, over the footbridge and loved the atmosphere. Also close to convenience shops. Free Parking available for our nine seater vehicle which was a huge bonus.

The hotel is in a convenient location within walking distance (30 mins or less) of major tourist destinations. On arrival we were promptly and most pleasantly greeted and brought to our room even though we had requested an early check in all was ready. Our room was clean and bright with a view of the gardens and an ensuite. The shower of the ensuite had hot water and enough power. Breakfast was plentiful with enough choices to accommodate most diets. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. They even arrange a place for us to leave our luggage after check-out until our trail was due. With a beautiful sitting room and wow factor stair one gets the old world charm without a boutique price tag.
