Beautiful house in quiet road : Huge bed room, very comfortable bed with top quality linen, overlooking front garden with stylish en suite. Plentiful supplies of coffees, teas and shortbread jar replenished daily. Wonderful breakfasts : fresh fruit salad, organic porridge or a choice of 4 other cereals, full Scottish breakfast followed by toast, jam and marmalade : the bread and preserves are home made and delicious. Mike and Ann were warm and welcoming, and kindly picked us up from and returned us to the Airport Link bus at Waverley Bridge : much appreciated ! We were a 15 minute walk through a park from the centre of Edinburgh : perfect location. Highly recommended and would certainly stay at Tantallon Place on our next visit.

Location

We purchased the Royal 48 ticket for the hop on hop off Lothian buses which were excellent value and included skip-the queue admission to Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Yacht Britannia ( unmissable ! ) and the Palace of Holyrood. The National Museum of Scotland was fascinating and wish we had allocated more time to explore it. Likewise the Botanic Gardens : hope we will return to Edinburgh soon to revisit both of these. We also visited the Scotch Whisky Experience and Mary King's Close : sadly felt the latter was something of a "tourist trap". Following our host's recommendation , our first evening we ate at the Italian restaurant "Sambucca" in Causewayside, just a few minutes from where we stayed and it was so good we returned on the following two evenings.

We really enjoyed our time staying here. Mike and Ann are fantastic hosts, really friendly and welcoming . Bedroom was cosy and the beds were so comfortable, we slept soundly. Breakfast was delicious and filling. Tantallon is ideally situated; only a 20 minute walk from all the main attractions and it is in a lovely quiet area. We would recommend highly and next time we are in Edinburgh we will definitely stay here.

We had an amazing stay with Anne and Mike which exceeded our expectations completely! My friend had her birthday the day after our arrival - they organized a cake which was baked by their own daughter who has an organic bakery/cake shop in Edinburgh which we also visited. It is such a warm feeling the moment you enter Tantallon - our room had views over the garden and one could see Arthur's seat in the distance. The location is superb, always walking distance from many attractions in town. Mike and Anne are very helpful hosts and I would recommend a stay there any time! Many many thanks.
