Maggie and Robin are excellant hostsand can advise guests what is on and are very knowledgable re places to visit. We will definately return.
Location
Visited the 6 main whisky distilleries.Port Nahaven is worth a visit & very picturesque.Lunch at Ardberg distillery is recommended. as. is Bridgend hotel.we spent a lovely day on the isle of Jura visited the distillery and had a exceptional sea food lunch in Jura hotel. If you play golf then Machrie is not to be missed its a totally different experience. There are bowling greens at several of the villages & you are made most welcome.

Samhchair is a delightful B & B. Everything was clean and tidy and there were absolutely no grounds for complaint. Out host and hostess were warm and welcoming and made us feel very at ease. And the breakfasts were marvellous - great choice and all freshly cooked and served with a smile!
Location
Samhchair is a wonderful location with a super view across the bay to Port Ellen. Our hostess was very knowledgeable about the local history and surrounding landmarks.

Very clean, modern decor and well maintained, excellent hosts - Maggie and Robin, made us feel very welcome, good food, lovely location right on the seashore, perfect for our visit
Location
The B&B location was superb, sound of lapping sea made for a very relaxing atmoshere, unspoilt sandy beach in front of the B&B, nature at its best - seals, herons, oystercatchers, wild goats, highland cattle, need I go on. Oh yes and very quiet.

I found the hosts exceptionally welcoming, accommodating, and informative. I've travelled extensively and rarely find a more 'complete' facility. The accommodation itself is extremely comfortable, contemporary, and lacks for nothing. The vista -- across the bay from Port Ellen -- is stunning. For anyone seeking a quiet taste of the Western Isles, starting his/her day with an outstanding breakfast (the remains of which Maggie was only too happy to 'bag up' for my trip back to the mainland), this is a wonderful choice of destinations. How often is one queried on arrival about one's favourite Malt, and encouraged to sample the generous choices in their sitting room?
Location
My reasons for travelling to Islay were primarily those attached to visiting some of its iconic distilleries. Many of these are easily accessible by car or bicycle (the latter able to be lent by the hosts). Secondly, I have a strong interest in creating a photographic record of my travels. The opportunities are legion. There is some considerable history attached to Islay, many of these attractions easily reached in the span of an hour or so's drive. Roads are well-maintained and most areas well-serviced. Restaurant dining, while not a focus in this part of my trip, is limited. Pubs are available and generally staffed by friendly folk. My suggestion is to 'fuel up' at Samhchair (done with ease!) in the morning -- then enjoy the day.

The accommodation is luxurious, the welcome from Maggie and Robin was extremely warm and the breakfasts were excellent. We wished we had booked more nights here as this was one of the very best stays on our two week tour of Islay, Jura and Colonsay.
Location
Very pleasantly situated just a few minutes from the centre of Port Ellen with excellent views.

Everything was excellent. Very clean, very comfortable, every need addressed. Very hospitable hosts who couldn't do enough for us. Excellent lounge facilities. Wonderful breakfasts with excellent attention to detail. The only reason for not clicking the 'outstanding' box is that I found the bedrooms small. I would certainly recommend this B + B to anybody wishing to stay on Islay.
Location
The location next to the beach was excellent and the house was very near pretty Port Ellon and the Mull of Oa. The only slight problem was the lack of any decent eating establishment in that area. However, our hosts told us that this will soon be remedied as there is a new restaurant being built in Port Ellon.

Well recommended accomodation as Maggie and Robin are really nice and welcoming.
The standard of rooms for the price are excellent. Lovely guest lounge with all
the same gadgets you would have at home ie large screen tv,dvd, music system etc.
I have stayed in hilton hotels nowhere near this standard.
Location
I was working so really only had 1 day to explore but lots to do and see.
