Our room was large, warm, clean and comfortable. Our breakfast was delicious and there was a good range of food on offer. The only negative comment would be that the water pressure in the shower wasn't great. We had an evening meal next door in Poppies Hotel, which was convenient. Overall it was a lovely stay.
Location
The purpose of our trip was to go hiking in the Queen Elizabeth park, so it was very convenient for that. It's also quite near the Go Ape facility which unfortunately we didn't have time to do. It's within driving distance of Stirling so we visited the castle there which is well worth a look.

Food very good indeed, but we would have liked the option of Kippers
Hosts very friendly and helpful
Standard of room very good, more user-friendly toiletries would have been appreciated
Location
The steamer ride to the other end of Loch Katrine, with the option of cycling back was wonderful.
Good choice of restaurants
Pleasant town centre

I found the proprietors very welcoming and very approachable, the breakfasts were excellent. I suppose the only minor shortfall being the decoration being a little dated, but this style might appeal to older borders. Otherwise I would have given an outstanding rating.
We first visited this establishment 25 years ago on our honeymoon and the revisit was well worth while.
Location
Callander has not really changed in 25 years it is a delightful Scottish town / village with its magnificant surrounding scenary and walks. There are several restaurants in the town ranging from an Italian, Chinese, Indian and the traditional Fish & Chips parlour. We found the food in each of these restaurants to be off a good standard, perhaps a little on the pricy side.
A visit to the whiskey distillery (Glen Turret) in Crief is definitely worth a visit, especially if enjoy a wee drop. Our stay was only for 3 days, but I am pleased to say that not very much has changed over the last 25 years.

The accomodation itself was perhaps in need of a bit of modernising but was very clean and the food was good. Would have given it only 3 stars but the owners were extremely welcoming and helpful and so an extra star was given for that reason.

Dew and kathleen were extremely welcoming. The room was beautifully clean. Each day the room was cleaned, beds made, fresh complementary tea and coffee plus biscuits put out and fresh towels put out. With it being autumn the heating in the room and house was just right. the house itself was very clean and furnished and decorated in true scottish fashion none of this contemporty stuff!
The breakfast was out of this world. Plenty to eat in fact after having the breakfast we didnt need to eat again till tea time. (even with going up the wallace monument). At the River View nothing was to much trouble. kathleen is a first class cook and hostess. Both Dew and kathleen were very helpful in explaining where local attractions were and how to get to them along with providing excellent resources on the different tourist attractions.
I strongly recommend anyone to stay at the River view Guest House. I know I shall be staying there again.
