We stayed 4 nights at the Newton in two different rooms. The rooms were very clean and the bed was comfortable. Ths staff was helpful, polite and efficient. The hotel was somewhat noisey during the night. The location was within walking distance of a major rail station. The breakfast food was acceptable. I cannot have caffeine and there were no decaffinated beverages. On the whole our stay at the hotel was not dazzling but certainly decent.

Location

The hotel is located close to a taxi stand,a major shopping street that I enjoyed. We were able to walk to catch tour buses. The highlite of the location was its proximity to a wonderful theatre where we attended a terrific musical on our last night in Glasgow. A charming Italian restaurant is located across from the theatre and close to the hotel. Unfortunately we discovered the restaurant on our last day so we only enjoyed it for one dinner.

The young lady at the reception was very friendly and accommodating. The room and bathroom were clean, the furniture average (but not more than that); the sliding door of the wardrobe never stayed in the position where you wanted it. The view from our basement room was on a back lane towards the kitchen doors of several restaurants, a space for cars and an overgrown, dirty backlot. Kitchen noises went on through the night. The breakfast smell from our hotel's kitchen went straight into our room, so we could not really open the windows to get some fresh air in. The quality of the breakfast left a lot to be desired. All in all you can't at all call it a "luxury hotel" (as it calls itself). For one or two nights and for guests who are used to budget hotels, however, it is acceptable.

Location

the location is hard to beat, of course, right in the centre of Glasgow, parallel to Sauchiehall Street and just a short walk from all the main attractions.

Room was clean and comfortable.Good shower. Informative and helpful staff. Breakfast was fine, a bit dissapointed there was no porridge, and would have preferred pork bacon and sausages.

Location

Very central location. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Hop on bus very good value. We thought the original Transport museum was better than the new one.

Room was excellent but the curtains were very difficult to open and close and were too narrow for the window, allowing light from the streets lights to flood the room. The situation next to a karaoke restaurant which welcomes hen and stag groups made for a noisy Friday and Saturday night as our room was ground floor front, but there were plenty of good eating places nearby. Bacon would have been preferable to turkey rashers for breakfast!!Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Overall good value for money.

Location

There were so many attractions, museums etc in Glasgow that we didn't have time to see everything in four days. The tour bus was excellent and the fact that the ticket lasted for two days meant we could visit plenty of the places we wanted to go to easily. Also we could get on it within a few hundred yards of the hotel. The new transport museum is well worth a visit.

the room was nice with plenty of room. the only downfall was we were four adults in the room so we had a double, a single bed and a wee zedbed which i felt was to small for any adult. they would be better with two double beds in the room the food was good

Location

i felt the newton is in a great bit of glasgow as it is near most of the main shops also has a great chinese restaraunt right next door to it
