We chose this hotel, off the internet, as a reasonably priced half-way meeting place for friends from Yorkshire and Fife. The signage could be improved as both parties got slightly lost before reaching the location! However, it was well worth the effort. The setting is quite stunning. And things only got better. Our rooms on the 6th floor were spacious and clean with large windows overlooking the river. The toiletries in the bathroom were very good quality. As we were a bit late for lunch and a bit early for dinner we ordered the afternoon tea which was quite delicious and very filling - excellent value. In the evening we chose to have a meal in the bar and again the quality of the food was very good and nicely presented. We didn't use the swimming pool but one of our party had a neck massage which was very reasonably priced. Breakfast, as expected by this time, was good. All the staff we spoke to were welcoming and friendly and we would like to have stayed longer but the hotel was fully booked. We will definitely recommend this hotel (and the self-catering waterhouses) to our families.

Location

We were not in the area long enough to do much other than walk around the mill buildings and reconstructed shop and house that are part of the history of the area. What we did see was very interesting and enjoyable.

we stayed overnight after a wedding reception. The room was spacious and very well equipped. Our room had a view of the river. The bathroom and the room were both spotless. Breakfast was one of the best we have had, the selection was very good. We stayed in a Travel Inn afew weeks back and the room cost us the same.
