Visitor Reviews of Monas Guest House - Overall Rating 3.7

Our visit to Edinburgh was highlighted by our stay at Mona's Guesthouse. Mona and Ross are unbelievably friendly and hospitable. Due to our plans we had to get up early in the mornings and Mona always arranged breakfast as it suited us. The rooms (Pentland Suite and Torphine Suite) are absolutely beautiful, clean, comfortable and luxurious. We had the en-suites, so we didn't have to leave the room to use the facilities, but the toilet outside the rooms was also very good and is cleaned three times a day. It was a wonderful experience staying in this guesthouse and I can definitely recommend staying. I know I will next time I'm in Edinburgh.
Location
The guesthouse is situated directly in front of Edinburgh Zoo, so if you're traveling with children I would definitely recommend a visit. It's only about 15 minutes from the city centre and the buses 12, 26, 31 and 100 (Airlink) take you the in no time. There you can roam the streets, visit the various attractions or simply have a coffee in one of the hundred pubs and cafés.

Nice and cosy rooms, very confortable with large bathroom. The rooms on one side receive traffic noise, even if very confortable. Breakfast OK, not the best, not the worst. A pleasant stay but nothing exceptionnal. A bit ouside old town, but very easy to get into downtown thanks to many bus. A small parking on the upfront quiet handy.

Our party had a great weekend stay with Mona, the rooms were big and tastefully decorated with some lovely pieces of antique furniture. The rooms were cleaned and beds remade each day. We had the place to ourselves and so we were able to come and go as we pleased without disturbing anyone (other than Mona and Ross possibly). Breakfast were sufficient to see us through till tea time, it was wholesome and plenty of it. Monas is about a 15mins bus ride out of Edinburgh City centre and the buses ran every 5 mins or so. A £3.00 all day ticket is a must.
Location
Edinburgh has the most wonderful mixture of tourist attractions,The Royal Yacht, Hollyrood Palace and the Castle are a must, either via the bus tours or with the £3.00 all day ticket. The bars and resturants suit all pockets and diets. We had a fabulous weekend and we will be back more often now we know what's on offer.

The B&B was difficult to find as there is scaffolding all over the front of the
building. Parking was at the front door.
There is a mosaic tile floor in the hall as you enter the building that is very nice.
We were given a front room on the ground floor that had high ceilings with carved
molding and a fireplace. Most of the linen is a deep red as was the carpeting.
It was not a cheerful room. The bed linen was old and frayed or torn in places but clean.
The attached bathroom did not have a hot water faucet in the sink. We were told that it was taken by a tenent and was to be replaced the following day. It wasn't. The shower is very small and hard to get in and out of.
Mona is a very nice person, very helpful. She made a good breakfast for us and provided more if wanted. The breakfast room has been remodeled and was bright and cheerful.
I think the owners are in the process of remodeling and updating the rooms so another visit would
be nice to see how far they have come.
Location
We took the bus (which runs every 5 minutes and cost 1.20) into the town centre. It's about
a fifteen minute ride. There is no parking there so it was much better to take public transportation. In town there are two castles, underground vaults, loads of shopping and even
an underground mall.

Quite cosy and homely. Ross and Mona are very welcoming and nice. Good value for money, and easy access to public transport - buses, and just opposite the Zoo. We enjoyed our stay there very much.
Location
Edinborough is a great place for a weekend getaway from London. Beautiful location, castles, excellent bars and one can take a day trip to the beautiful Highlands.
