I found the room very comfortable just the right size for a single room which was of very good standard. the dining room staff were very friendly and the breakfast was quite substantial, enoungh to keep you going for the day. the lady receptionist on my arrival was very helpfull and gave a good first impression as to the accomodation. My opinion is that it is a very comfotable place to stay and good value, i would stay there again and reccomend it to my friends.

Location

The location was good as my the purpose of my stay was to travel around the Glasgow and surrounding area by train which is what i did, it is in easy walking distance from both main stations and shops and Weatherspoons pub, what made my visit special was that it was my first visit to Scotland and i was"nt disappointed.

Some of the (standard single) rooms are very small. Wi fi is only available at one of the dining rooms and 2-3 rooms around that. After all with respect to the price I think I would rate it as acceptable.

Location

It's very close to Glasgow city centre. A Tesco Express is just one block away. Central shopping centre and loads of pubs and clubs are at walking distance. City information centre (where you can book a tour for Highlands, distilleries, etc) is about 2 miles away. You can get there by bus.

Room was adequate and clean. Decor a little dated and in need of attention. Good value for money.

Location

Excellent location for shopping, eating and drinking! We were in glasgow for a concert at hampden, the guesthouse was perfect for walking to the train there and back.

I like the place because it is a good basic guest house. Nothing fancy, but comfortable with clean room, clean towels everyday and clean toilet. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Location

I was there in Glasgow for a conference in the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Center. Glasgow is a very commercial town with historical significance. But I prefer rural Scotland more.

We enjoyed a family room despite only being 2 of us. We should also say we were very impressed with the staff who were extremely helpful 1) in explaining the parking arrangements, 2) assistance with taxis & 3) when my wife left her handbag in a taxi they tracked it down for us and arranged its delivery to the restaurant we were at in Glasgow city centre.

Staff friendly and welcoming - good knowledge of local facilities. When requested for maintenance items in room service was prompt. Guest house very central and within walking distance of many local attractions. I felt safe walking back in the evening. Although situated close to the motorway, apart from the background hum of the motorway traffic, the area was quiet and felt safe. The room was basic, but clean. The bed was comfortable. The only critiism could be that the curtains were very thin and as my stay was midsummer my sleep was disturbed by the sunshine at 3am onwards. Yes, the sun does shine in Glasgow! From an eco perspective, use of engery efficient light bulbs and giving guests the option of not having clean towels daily would be good. I would be happy to return to McLays Guest House and felt it was good value for money.

Adequate room, but window looked out onto a heap of junk and no further. Furniture a bit rickety. Pleasant and helpful staff. Adequate breakfast.
