The room was great. Good service and very helpful with everything. Would consider booking again, if in the area.

The hospitality and friendliness of the proprietors is magnificent and coupled with such a unique and delightful property makes for a wonderful visit.

Location

I have used the accommodation on several occasions in order to play golf at the many local courses but the property is also very appropriate for visits to Edinburgh.

Thanks to John and Alice for their kind hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at Inveresk House. The suite was very spacious and the beds very comfortable. John's historical knowledge was inspirational and very interesting.

We had a family suite that was very large in size. The master bed was HUGE. We had our two grandsons with us (12 and 6), and their beds were perfect for them. The bathroom was good sized with good water pressure. Jon and Alice are great hosts who could not do enough to help us with every need. They advised us on good restaurants in the area, local sites of interest and Jon's knowledge of Scotish history (along with all european history) was unsurpassed. His knowledge of his own home was very interesting to us as well. The breakfast they served us was made to order, very good and was served on our schedule. (some b and b's tried to tell us when we had to come to breakfast). This b and b is located in a great quiet area about 1/2 hour from Edinburgh Castle and is easily accessible to all major motorways. Our grandsons took great pleasure at the end of the day in having a yard to run off their dinner. I highly recommend the Inveresk House to anyone who travels to this area of Scotland. This is the second time we stayed here and will be happy to visit them again

Location

There are two very good restaurants in the area. One is walking distance (Italian) and one about 1 mile away (Scotish and VERY kid friendly). Edinburgh castle is about 1/2 hour drive away. Between the castle and the palace (one mile down the Royal Mile) are tons of shops and pubs that are full of friendly staff. Arthur's seat is a mountain that is a little tough to walk but when you get to the top it all is absolutely worth it. I have visited this area twice now (about ten years apart) and have yet to meet a rude or nasty person. Everyone is very pleasant to talk to and I find most people to be as curious about America as we were about Scotland. The Royal Mile is shut down to cars at times and is full of street performers, bagpipes and specialty shops. One street performer (Todd Various) enlisted my 6 year old grandson to help him do his magic show. He was absolutely the funniest and most talented performer I have ever seen. He gave both grandsons a lifelong memory that was one of their highpoints on the trip. Do yourself a favor and plan on one day in this area. The castle takes about 2 hours to tour, the palace about 1 hour, Arthurs Seat about 2 hours, lunch and shopping and you end with a great day.

Spacious and comfortable room with very good facilities. Excellent breakfast. Will use Inveresk house on next visit.

Location

Musselborough is a pleasant and quiet coastal town:not much to do or see. Bus journey to Edinburgh takes 40 minutes depending on time of day, with many stops. Better to take the train which takes around 10 minutes.

Very friendly welcome and nothing was to much for our hosts. Would you invite a school party into your home if it was full of antiques? They did!

Location

we were on a golfing break playing in the ISGA home internationals, the course are very impressive

When we arrived john and Alice were most welcoming, especially after the bad weather we had getting there, we had to stay over somewhere else first night as we couldn't make it and they very undestanding, and took money off when we left, which they didn't have to do. She bought us up to our rooms tea and cake. The house we found lovely and our rooms were more than we expected, and the breakfast was good what ever we wanted they would do, was excellent value for money. they could not help us enough and we would certainly recommend to friends

Location

We went into Edinburgh each day and took the bus, we enjoyed the tour bus and as it lasted 24 hrs we took advantage of this. Do not think castle worth the money, but we enjoyed the hollyrood palace
