My favourite B & B on our recent visit to Scotland. Excellent hosts. Excellent cleanliness. Excellent variety and delicious breakfast.

Location

Nearby the Northern Sands Hotel in Dunnet serves very good food which is reasonably priced.

It was simply the best B&B we stayed at during our 2 week travel around Scotland. Quality and service exceeded our expectations in every sense. Spacious room, fantastic breakfast, Selection of DVD's in the room, good shower, friendly and supportive hosts...

Location

We saw puffins at Head of Dunnet, we visited Orkney Islands which was truly special, we saw seals in John O'Groates, Mey Castle...

This beautiful home was one of the best B & Bs we have ever had the privilege of staying at and nothing was too much trouble from our delightful hosts. There was a mouth watering breakfast, the rooms were good sized and lacked for nothing. We felt truely sad that we had not arranged a longer stay.

Location

There were fantastic views and Hawthorns is ideally situated for ferries to and from Orkney, easy to visit The Castle & Gardens of Mey,Dunnet Head and of course John o'Groats, although we prefered the less touristy Duncansby Head and the stacks of Duncansby which is the real north eastern tip of the Scottish Mainland

We were greeted warmly by Teresa and our room was just super, large clean beautifully decorated and plenty reading material,Teresa suggested where to go for dinner and that was lovely as well, breakfast was a gourmet feast and as this was our first B&B in UK it set a standard that no other B&B has reached and we have travelled the lenght of the UK We will definately recommend Hawthorns to all our friends who are travelling over to this part of the world.Wonderful value for money.

Location

We visited John a Groats and thought it was overrated and tacky then visited Castle Mey which was really lovely and enjoyed beign able to see a little of the Queen mothers world.Just drove thru Thurso as the weathr wasn't the best but lovely countryside.
