Visitor Reviews of Glentower Lower Observatory - Overall Rating 4.1

The room at Glentower was fantastic. A room with a view as I had requested. As we were travelling as a family, it had proved difficult to find rooms with accommodation for 3 people, which did not include a double bed. We needed 3 singles. Glentower was one of the few which offered the option that suited us. The room was very large and well furnished. It was a short walk to town, where we ate in the evening. The beds were comfy, and the shower was hot. The greeting was friendly, and as we had to leave early in the morning, breakfast was served to us earlier than usual, which was a lovely touch. We certainly would recommend this accommodation, in a house with history, a view and warm welcome to others, and would definitely return if we were ever staying in Fort William again.
Location
We really only stopped at Fort William, so we could do the train ride to and from Mallaig, which we did. Though it was a rainy day, the views were wonderful, and as we did not take the steam train, there were plenty of seats. I did notice that the steam train was packed as we passed it en route back to Fort William, and was pleased we had chosen the regular train over the steam train.
In the evening we ate at No 4 restaurant. It was on a square in the town, and was distinctively named. Service and food were exceptional.

We booked 2 rooms, both were beautifully presented, everything was lovely and clean. All the staff we encountered were pleasant and easy to deal with. Glentower is in a fantastic location, was great value and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

Clean and spacious family room up a flight of stairs. A few minutes walk to the city centre with a pleasant view of the loch. Warm Scottish breakfast was delicious and more varied than elsewhere.

Excellent place to stay - the hospitality was very warm and friendly, the bulding was great with a very interesting history linked to Ben Nevis, the rooms were spacious and fresh and the food was very good. All in all an excellent place to stay.
Location
The accommodation offered wonderful views out onto the loch, was within short walking distance of the town centre. Nearby attractions include the Old Inverlochy castle which is very nice, the Ben Nevis Distillery and of course the wonderful mountain range including Ben Nevis are all very close.

The accommodation was very comfortable. The welcome very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast excellent. We stayed in 4 bed and breakfast houses on our short trip around Scotland this time. The Glentower Lower Observatory was as comfortable and pleasant as any we stayed at, but also the most expensive
Location
We went to Fort William to travel on the Jacobite Express. This was an excellent trip (made better by the fact that it was a sunny day). The outlook from our accommodation was beautiful. Fort William itself was a little disappointing.

Great location, close to town center, loch view. Clean but plain room with small bathroom. Cooked breakfast was good but simple, buffet very small. I would say o.k. but not outstanding.
