Felt right at home for the 2 nights, welcomed by our hosts Jenny & Bernard, they arranged to place our car off the road so we could walk to town etc. and enjoy Oban. We had a comfortable room with a skylight so we saw the stars, or heard the rain each night ! ! Our cousins had a nice room also. Breakfast was great, lovely dining room. Enjoyed our stay, made to feel most welcome.

Location

Enjoyed the return Ferry to Mull, and visited Duart Castle. Oban was a busy place, great shopping.

The room was very comfortable and spacious with good natural lighting from a velux window. it was tastefully decorated and furnished, nice to have a sofa as well as beds. It was all very clean with thoughtful attention to detail, small beauty things in the bathroom etc. The T.V. was an old one so the picture was not geat. The breakfast was very nice, including freshly prepared fruit salad, with a good choice and the host and hostess were very hospitable indeed.

Location

The location is very central but on a steep road would not be suitable for the unfit or disabled (without a car). There are plenty of shops and there were sufficient places to eat at varying prices. One restaurant was overpriced we felt but generally one could eat reasonably. There are some short walks in Oban but not really longer ones from Oban itself. This was a bit disappointing. The bus service in the area seemed minimal (compared to similar resorts we have stayed in Switzerland, for example) and we felt at a considerable disadvantage without a car, which is a pity. The boat trips are good, lots of choice but they quite expensive so most tourists would only do one trip during their stay in Oban. So, to sum up, Oban is a good centre for tourists but preferably with a car.

The room was very clean ,Breakfast was great, the only problem was having to be in for midnight and being out between 10am till4pm.It rained the whole weekend, and theres only so much you can do in the rain. When we went back to the b&b at 3.20pm they were very reluctant to let us in.Which we found very strange esp because it was raining very heavy. Helen Kerr

Had a very nice stay at Glenara Guest House, very comfortable with extra touches, such as magazines, cotton buds, feminine needs etc., the rooms were modern and spotless, the breakfast were superb and a very welcoming couple. Would recommend this guest house to friends. Although the house is up a steep hill it would not put us off revisiting.

Location

We spent our honeymoon in Oban 40 years ago and have been back many times. For foreign tourists there are many places roundabout and the islands to visit, also nice coffee shops and places to eat. Unfortunately the weather was not the best for us but it did not spoil the time we spent there. In good weather there is nothing to beat the Scottish countryside, especially the scenery on the way. Although we had been in Oban several times we had never visited Mull we thoroughly enjoyed our visit there also.
