Gil Dun House is beautifully and tastefully decorated; beds and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious! Gerry could not have been more accommodating to any of our needs from calling taxis, storing luggage and great advice on local restaurants, buses and attractions in Edinbrugh. Great value and comfort.

Location

Loved the Bell Pub and Salisbury Arms local to Guk Dun were excellent for food and atmosphere. We enjoyed Edinbrugh Castle, Mary Kings Close to was very moving and interesting and the Dungeons was memorable...and a little scary. St Giles Cathedral was impressive. Great city!!

The room was on the ground floor which suited us just right with our heavy luggage. It was roomy and clean, the bathroom was spacious and clean. Our host was friendly and explained the house, the bus lines, etc. in detail, gave tips regarding dining out. Breakfast was nicely prepared, the choice ample. Gildun Guest House may be located a bit far off on the map, but is easily reached by bus. We had a very pleasant stay and would stay there again when visiting Edinburgh.

We found the GilDun an excellent guest house for our stay in Edinburgh as the hosts were both very helpful and hospitable. The breakfasts were as good as you would get in any good hotel and our room had all the facilities needed for our stay. The location was great as we could access the city centre very easily on the local buses which we caught a stones throw from the GilDun. We think the price was comparable with other establishments for the month of August which is obviously more expensive than other times of the year.

Location

The Royal Yacht Britannia was a very enjoyable experience and worth the money paid. We also did several trips on the open top buses which were excellent value for money if you had the time to do more than one trip. The Salisbury Arms near the guest house was a very nice place to eat and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The Tattoo was a brilliant experience and we would recommend a visit to Edinburgh for that alone - the Tattoo was the main reason for our visit.
