Nice landlord which was very helpful with lots of info. Breakfast very good. Town center easy within reach by bus(ses) or walking. Blankets were of nylon-like material which caused some inconvenience; this is however a minor thing.
Location
Edinburgh is ok if you close your eyes for the abundant souvenir shops, esp. in the Royal Mile. The Dome was the nicest place to visit.

This was definitely the best accomodation we enjoyed on our trip this year - both room and food left nothing to be desired ... and the hosts topped it off with their helpfulness.
Thanks for making our stay in Edinburgh such an enjoyable experience.

Lovely room, very clean accommodations,
The hosts were friendly and helpful.
Very nice breakfast room with a delicious breakfast
Location
In addition to Edinburgh's attractions, we enjoyed a drive to St. Andrews and back via the picturesque East Neuk fishing villages.

Great Hosts, Excellent breakfasts ... good alternative choices, Delightful accomodation. Would stay here again without question. Great value! As the old saying goes, 'you get what you pay for.'

Staying in Edinburgh during August was a blast... Tattoo, Fringe festival, researching your roots, who could ask for anything more?
The Gildun Guest House is close to downtown and to the university yet far enough away to provide peace and tranquility during the August High Season.
Public transportation is easy and very close at hand, several direct bus routes on excellent schedules.
My wife and I discovered the home of my Great Grandfather on one of our day outings. Current residents showed us great a courtesy and gave us a tour of the house and grounds. Scots know how to make you welcome.

Everything was just about perfect, people and service most friendly and helpful; room a little too small, especially bathroom. But, all in all too expensive!

We enjoyed our stay at the Gildun Guest House in Edinburgh 9-15 August 2009 very much.
Beautiful and tasteful accomodation, good breakfast service and a warm, kind reception by our host.
Owner Gerard McDonald is a great ambassador for Scottisch Accommodation Index, Edinburgh and Scotland in general.
Well done, we'll be back!

Great Victorian House, easy access to busses, beautiful and tastfully decorated room, modern facilities, good breakfast service, quiet neighbourhood, kind and warm reception from Gerard McDonald (owner).
Location
View on Arthur Seat in Edinburgh, close to busses that reach North Bridge, Waverly Bridge in 13 min. Good: you have the tranquility of a suburb but with quick access to the city centre.

Location
Good location. Easy access by bus to the nearby attractions but away from the hectic, noise and bustle of the main street
