I think one should get a proper english breakfast for that price, not just a continetal one. But the room itself and service was wery satisfying.

Value for money is ok, food was fine (real ground coffee is important for Germans!). Good variety of muesli, fruit, yoghurt. Hot meals freshly prepared. Winter garden as breakfast location nice and clean. Our Room was also clean, bathroom "ensuite" as advertised. Windows faced the garden side, so it was calm. No parking lot for the car, we had to leave it "around the corner" - thanks to the quiet neighborhood there was no problem.

Location

Nearby a bank, supermarket, several pubs. A restaurant ("Pataka") with fine Indian cuisine within a short walking distance - we loved it. Also remarkable for us: the interior design is made in the style of Charles Rennie Mackintosh - great new experience. Edinburgh is breathing history, a wonderful place to explore. We admired the tiny, funny Lewis Chessmen and recognized places of Ian Rankin´s thrillers...

The room was very comfortable and spacious and the ensuite bathroom was good. Parking was difficult - we had to park in a side street and walk quite a distance with our luggage. There were a lot of useful pamphlets and maps available in the entrance hall. Breakfast was good. There was a bus-stop a short walk away where we were able to get a bus to the city.

Location

We only had a short time so took a 'Mac' bus-tour of the city which was very interesting. We were able to get off at places we wanted to explore. We saw Edinburgh castle and had a free walking tour. We could have spent the whole day at the castle as there was so much to see.

Got upgrade to superior room for little extra cost which was most agreeable. Very friendly welcome and accommodating to our request. Comfortable beds in a very nice room and excellent breakfast served in a bright and airy conservatory. Mine host was extremely pleasant and we would thoroughly recommend the Classic Guest House.
