Our visit was just great, starting from the rooms, breakfast and hospitality.

Location

The location is quite near the city centre, either by bus or walking.

The room itself was very nice, loved the bedding and the bed was comfortable. It was on the third floor which wasn't too bad but I wouldn't recommend it for those who have a hard time getting up stairs. The house itself was very nice as well, the bathroom on the third floor was suitable, and the shower never ran out of hot water. The best thing about the whole experience was the hospitality. I've never been to a B&B where the hosts remember everyone's names every single day or are so willing to chat everyone up. When we had a question, Keith was there to answer it. Susan is a wonderful cook and throughout breakfast Keith was talking and serving coffee and tea. While we were there we had to take the bus into town, we weren't brave enough to try to walk it and we were just plain tired after walking Princes' street and the Royal mile. Everything you need to see was right there on those two streets basically.

I would suggest seeing Holyrood house, the queen still visits which is really cool! And to be honest, the castle isn't as nice or impressive as some of the ones in Germany, but still worth seeing. The Royal Yacht Britannica was basically a floating museum; I wouldn’t say it was necessary to see it, just kind of interesting to see how the queen traveled on the sea. We also went to Mary King’s Close which was interesting, but touristy, worth seeing the underground street if you’re into history, you’ll probably never see another one and we also did an evening tour with one of the groups on the Royal Mile where we went to the South Bridge or something like that and to the graveyard where Greyfriars Bobby is to experience the Mackenzie poltergeist. VERY historically interesting, just also very touristy, in the Tomb where the poltergeist is someone literally jumps into the tomb and yells “BOO!” -My husband nearly punched him- but they don’t give you enough time there in order to get a real paranormal experience if that’s what you’re interested in- that creepy feeling like something’s watching you. Finally, the shops on the Royal mile all sell the SAME things so don’t feel that it’s necessary to go in them all. There is an outlet on the street towards the castle just a little ways into an alley, they are the only place where the price is really that different, I suggest you take a look there first, but do buy your cashmere scarves somewhere else as the 3 for 10 is exactly what you pay for. And also take a look in the tourist office, there are some nice souvenirs you won't see in other places and there is also a store right across the street from the tour bus stop on Waverly Bridge which has a lot of different items.
