The location was fantastic, couldnt ask for better, the guest house was immaculately clean, staff were extremely friendly and the balmoral suite is amazing.

Location

The location was fantastic a second walk from princess street and george street which is lined with shops, cars and restuarants, overlooking Edinburgh Castle, a 15 minute walk from the Roayl Mile and less than a 10minute walk from the Waverley train station.

Very clean, very hospitable and very secure - with the intercom entry on the front door on the main street. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt very safe staying right in the centre of Edinburgh in this guest house. Happy to recommend and will definitely stay here again when we visit Edinburgh again!

- Good room and bathroom - Good breakfast - Excellent service, very friendly staff - But too many stairs to climb which is not helpful after a long tiring day

Location

location generally OK but not too many restaurants to choose from within the vicinity.

Castleview Guest House is small enough to provide very personalized, friendly service, yet large enough to make it feel as if we were staying in a small hotel. The staff went above and beyond, particularly to provide suggestions on what to do in the area and general directions. As we had just stayed in Amsterdam and London on business in hotels with incredibly tiny rooms, it was a pleasure to have space to enjoy when we returned tired at the end of the day. Loved the window seats, the comfortable beds, and the breakfasts. The latter were hearty and sustaining for a full day of walking in this beautiful, historic city.

Location

Castleview has an excellent location just off Prince's Street and an easy walk from the train station. Edinburgh is not a huge city, so everything is walkable, and bus service is outstanding. The location is also great as it is just off Rose Street, which runs parallel to the busy high street shopping of Prince's Street, and features a ton of choices for dining. Located right next door is TGI Fridays, which is a well known chain but also a good spot for a meal when you are tired from travelling. Edinburgh Castle and Hollyrood House Palace are both very much worth visiting, as are the Royal Botanical Gardens. We also greatly enjoyed a train trip into Stirling, about 40 minutes away, where we visited Stirling Castle. This is a beautiful little town, with a great view from the hilltop. Overall, an incredibly beautiful and romantic city, inspiring our desire to visit Scotland again to see the Highlands and the western coastline. The very best advice? Look up when you are walking the Royal Mile, to read the signs posted on the historic buildings just above eye height. These signs tell the real tale of the city and offer the enjoyable option of a self-guided tour between the pubs, of course!

location : perfectly situated right in the centre of the city, near to everything .The only trouble was that it was on the 3rd floor, but the friendly and extreemly helpful staff( and even a man , who was delivering something to your hotel) ,helped us to get our heavy luggage upstairs .staff: very friendly and helpful in every way. rooms :tasteful, clean, big enough , lovely view overlooking the castle ,very tasty full scottish breakfast . all in all: GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY

Location

as we only had one day it was perfect to have the main attractions so near:CASTLE, ROYAL MILE.PRINCESS STREET GARDENS WITH SCOTS MEMORIAL AND FLORAL CLOCK .ALSO THE WHISKY CENTRE AND EDINBURGH´S OLDEST PUB WAS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE
