The reception area could be improved. I had slight difficulty in finding staff when I arrived.
However, The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly and obliging and so our stay was very pleasant.
Location
The Bowmore distillery is well worth a visit as is the Round Church at the top of the road leading up from the sea.
Bridgend community garden is a short distance away where there is also a lovely woodland walk.

Room 7 - large with views over the bay; Probably not best value for money as we got a late deal during the whisky festival; hospitality was great - family feel - very friendly & welcoming; Only ate breakfasts there, but they were generous and quickly prepared; I'd go again, not the Ritz, but clean and tidy & we felt a great base for exploring Bowmore and the island.

Although the room accommodation was fairly basic, the owners and staff were most obliging and made us feel very welcome. The range of evening meals was extraordinary, the food was freshly prepared and of very high quality and the portions were extremely generous. The hotel was also very much a centre of the community, with a mixed clientele and a cheerful, friendly atmosphere. Overall, this made for a very enjoyable stay.
Location
Bowmore is an excellent base from which to explore the rest of Islay, a peaceful, stress-free and friendly island with excellent locally-sourced food, malt whisky and real ale. For fans of malt whisky, the distilleries are a major attraction; the tours are all interesting and different in their own way and the tastings are generous. Equally worth visiting are Finlaggan, the Rhinns, the two bird sanctuaries, Kildalton Cross, the round church at Bowmore and, via the ferry across the Sound, Jura. Everywhere, the annoyances and idiocies of the 21st century seem a long way away.

Bowmore is really quiet in the evening. The location landscape is really beautifull.

The food was outstanding as well as the hospitality/service. A few evenings quite noisy (discoteque in the hotel and outdoor smoking place just outside our room)
Location
Port Ellen with it's yearly bech rugby tournement and the Ardberg wiskey destillery were great. Also Portahaven to look at the seels - very appreciated by the kids
