Nice room, good food, very friendly and attentive.

Location

We were there primarily for the Skye Cycle Sportive, but found Portree to be a very picturesque town and we enjoyed a lovely meal at the Harbour View Restaurant.

Very clean and comfatable but the en-suite accommodation was small. Our hostess was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was cherrfully served and plentiful

Location

Portree is the centre of the island and makes everything easily accessible. However we found it to be rather run down and lacking choice in places to eat in the evenings.

For us the bedrooms and bathrooms were a bit tight and the hot water had run out on one of the mornings. That said, the innkeepers couldn't have been nicer, the breakfast was very good, and we loved having access to a computer. I enjoyed reading much literature about the Isle of Skye in the "den" where banana cake had been put out. All to say, it was just fine and the location was good - Portree Town Center was an easy wallk.

Location

We drove to Waternish and had lunch at the Stein Inn - oldest inn on the island - and loved it. The view was spectacular and then we drove down the western side of the island and cut back to Portree at Sligachen. Spectacular scenery. Wish we had had time to explore Trotternish - will do it next time. The "pamphlet" that I read at the Balloch was written by a local about the entire island and its history, stories, legends, scenery, etc. - the writer was concerned that the "local lore" was going to be lost. It was a wonderful help and should be reprinted. The Balloch keeps one copy on hand.
