I've stayed in bed and breakfasts in England and Ireland in the past, nearly all of which were a good value. The Auld Alliance compares favorably with any of those properties, as it's clean, friendly, quiet, and far less expensive than most hotels.
Location
The Auld Alliance is a little far from the central city, but the nearby bus stop makes-up for most of this disadvantage.

Very warm welcome, room lovely, bathroom incredible, very hearty and tasty breakfast

The room that we stayed in was exceptionally clean and comfortable. We were given a friendly greeting on arrival, and any queries we had were dealt with immediately. The breakfast was amazing and filled us up for the day! Will most certainly be booking to stay here again next time we are in Edinburgh.
