Proprietor was very helpful with directions when we got lost! On arrival, we found a lovely house, big clean room, good breakfasts, parking, and convenience to shops, restaurants, and buses. We enjoyed staying in the quiet neighborhood, out of the bustle of the central city. Highly recommended!

My friend and I spent 4 nights at Ard-na-said on the last leg of an 18 day trip. It was a beautiful house/home and we were very pleased with our room. The bathroom was the largest and newest of any of our guest houses and it was nice to be able to spread out a bit. Our first morning we ordered a prepared breakfast which was delicious and the other mornings we enjoyed the cereals, fruits, toast, and yogurt. Great variety and our host was very accommodating of my friend's need for soy milk. He also made us "lunch to go" and left it in the hallway since we had a very early departure time. Very nice touch.
Location
It's a bit of a hike to the Royal Mile from Ard-na-said, but one we found easy to do once we had confidence in our surroundings. We are healthy 60+ year old women and the walk to and from gave us great justification to eat and drink at will! We rode the bus twice and it was an easy process, but do have the right change...it will make it easier. The Salisbury Inn is about the closest pub/restaurant, and we made it a convenient happy hour stop on the way back from sightseeing. Lovely outdoor patio for drinks.

Our room was very comfortable with easy access. Definite value for money. The gueste house is ideally situated forgetting around Edinburgh easily. We had delightful and knowledgable hosts and that also made life easier.. The breakfasts were beautifully cooked daily.

The gueste house is ideally situated for allourrequirements whichi included the Tattoo, the Fringe Festival. We wondered around , caught buses...which were brilliant and dined at some wonderful restaurants including the new Jamie Oliver one. We will definitely be back ata later date to visit.
