The room was very fine: spacious, attractively decorated, clean, with a pleasant view. The owner with great generosity gave my elderly father and myself an en-suite room instead of the non-en suite room we had booked, free of charge. The breakfasts were terrific, full slap-on affairs. The only quibble I would have is the unusual conversation style of the owner at breakfast. He referred to myself and my 88 year old father as Jonsey (the surname is Jones), called a German lady Heidi, although she insisted this was not her name, and when this (elderly) lady and her husband sat next to us asked my dad detailed questions about what he did in the war. (He killed a lot of Germans.) I wouldn't want to make too much of this, however, as the stay was a very fine one (for a week in all). I liked the tiger's head (relic of another age) hanging on the wall, and the bearskin. As a sign of the times, the owner told me that a snow leopard skin once hanging there too had been stolen. When these animals were shot, the world would have been full of wild animals. I liked seeing this glimpse of a past era. The owner had done a lot to give the house character. Parking was easy- on the drive; and there was a first rate and quick bus route to the centre just nearby. |

Location

The National Gallery merited visits on several days. It is a stunning collection. Holyrood Castle was great, too. The nearby new Parliament buildings were completely grotty, not fitting in at all in the environment. I found Edinbourgh a lovely city to wander about in.

Definitely an excellent b&b for the price. Hosts were very hospitable and it was located very close to the bus stop and a grocery store.

Facilities at Ardgowan were adequate but the Manager was rude. On arrival he was unwelcoming and continually passed derrogative comments to all guests. He was not friendly and offered no support to find way around city. Advised me that my name was not nice and continually made derrogative comments not only to us but all guests most guests were unsure if he was serious or joking. Made stay very unpleasant.

Location

Situation was good close to town centre and transport. Travelled to Stirling and Falkirk by hire car very enjoyable experience. Tourist attractions ie Stirling Castle and Falkirk Wheel excellent.

The hospitality was very good, all people who work there was kind, polited und helpfull. The room was very good, spacious und always clean and tidy, the bed was confortable und the bathroom have all we needed. The breakfast was good but not enough! The hotel is situated in a good posizion, it was easy for us cach the bus to go to the centre or to the attraction of Edimburg because there is a bus each 5 minutes! And the bus stop is in front of the hotel. The ammount we hav paid was proper to our stay. We enjoy this accomodation in Ardgowan Guest House very much.

We visited Edimburgh Castle, Tantallon Castle, Camera Obscura, and other thing, all was fantasctic! We enjoy very much our holiday in Edimburg, we think to return in future
