We stayed in room 2 for 4 nights and were very happy with everything during our stay. The owner (Sarah) made us feel very welcome and was happy to help with anything we needed. The breakfast was very good as well - I would highly recommend An Struan B&B and will be booking again when next in Scotland.

Location

There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, with the Isle of Mull and Iona a short hop away on the ferry. The drive to Fort William and Ben Nevis, along with the rest of the Highlands, is also not too far. All in all, Oban is a good base camp when visiting Scotland.

The standard of the room was excellent. Very nice touch to have bath robes. The host was extremely welcoming and helpful. We needed to leave the B&B early so catch the ferry to Oban and Sarah (our host) prepared a packed breakfast for us. We had not expected this kindness and were very grateful. I would recommend this B&B as a very nice, friendly and way above average place to stay.

Location

Our stay at An Struan was close to Oban. It was in an attractive setting. Our main reason for staying there was to be close to the ferry that would take us to Mull and Iona. We thoroughly enjoyed both islands. Visiting Governor Lachlan Macquarie's mausoleum was a "must do" for us, as was visiting Iona.Well worth the visit.

We arrived after a long journey, from London, to be greeted with cakes biscuits and a lovely cup of tea. We were shown to our room and was pleasantly surprised at the outstanding cleanliness and lay out of the room. The bed was very comfortable, and there was plenty of storage, as well as home comforts, teddies on the bed and flowers in vases. Towels were soft and fresh and changed daily, also lovely soft dressing gowns were provided, which was wonderful. It was very warm and cosy. We had beverage facilities, with a good variety of choice, including hot chocolate for bedtime. Our hosts, Anne and Gary, were very friendly and helpful and made us feel at home. The breakfast was even better than my own, with a wide choice to choose from. (DELICIOUS!)(You didn't need another meal until the evening! We were extremly pleased with the value for money, and will be recommending their establishment to friends and family.

Location

There are so many wonderful sights, breath takingly beautiful, and with such a wide variety of choice, there is something for everyone to enjoy...We had an amazing meal, at a wonderful restaurant, and on the way back, encountered wandering sheep in the lane, nick named bogey lane by a family member, who played there as a child. Also highland cows decided to use a cottage to scratch his back, and bought two of his friends along to watch....Amazing for us, being in London, we don't get the priviledge to witness things like that first hand. There are so many Loch's it's hard to remember all their names, they are formed by water trickling or gushing down the mountain ranges, forming the Loch, some are smaller that others, all are breath taking, wild Seals parade on banks with their offspring and we got some amazing footage on the camcorder. Oban is a wonderful place, shops, views, food, ships, whiskey tasting musuems, gift shops, so much, very lovely people, a different way of life. A MUST FOR ANYONE, Young, Old, families, couples, it's all there, and if like us, you may even decide you could even live there! P.S Take a good pair of comfy boots, with plenty of grip if you plan on exploring the Loch banks or mountains, it can be slippery, also a warm coat and hat as it can be windy by the water, so take care. Good Luck and have as much fun as we did just exploring day by day.

An Struan B7B was very comfortable and the proprietor Sarah Knowles was fantastic. She gave us information about a Scottish event that was running in Oban. It was a lot of fun. The B&B was very comfortable and easy to find. The breakfast was excellent.
