A bit of a climb to our rooms but when we got there the view of the castle was outstanding. Hosts were accommodating and very helpful and friendly. Breakfasts were excellent. Only steps away from two major bus routes to Princes Street and the castle. Highly recommended.

Location

Great Italian restaurant only a 10 minute walk on Lothian Road.

The room was very nice and comfortable, I would have only appreciated a somewhat larger bathroom, which of course was not possible due to the layout of the house. It definitely was value for money. The ladies running the guest house were very kind, friendly and helpful, the food was fine.

Location

I can´t really, as we spent practically all the time away from the guest house in different parts of Edinburgh.

A kind and welcoming owner.A lovely period house, hot shower, the bed was so comfortable and the breakfast was lovely and cooked exactly as I requested on both days! I would love to go back soon and I will.I was a single woman staying on my own, I felt extremely well looked after.A quiet, calm atmosphere in this beautiful old house and lovely Scottish hospitality.

Location

Once I had found my bearings and a good map I was able to explore.Greyfriars Kirk is within walking distance( perhaps a 20-25 minute walk by way of Edinburgh University and the beautiful buildings there. The Tour buses on Waveley Bridge were really good. For £13 you get unlimited travel on the Tour for 24hours, you can go around as many times as you like and stop off where you choose and catch the next one ( every 10 minutes till 1700 the every 15 minutes till 1900). I thought it was great value and live commentary from very knowledgable Guides ( in English). The drivers are superb too, negotiating the hills and narrow streets with ease. They are open topped too the views are great. The National Art Gallery( minutes from Waverley Bridge) was a joy.The cafe there is lovely too, you can sit out in the sunshine overlooking Princes Gardens and watch the world pass by.I went back again , the next day,to the National Art Gallery, the entrance is free, well worth a visit, great bookshop too.So much to see and do in Edinburgh, buses are cheap £3.50 will get you unlimited bus travel for the day, ask the Driver on your first bus.The Tour Bus ( Green) was great value and I got a feel for the geography and history of the place.I also visted the Forth Bridge by bus, £3.50 return on Bus 42 from Princes St to a little village called South Queensberry, a pleasant ride approx 40minutes away.Buses are very good in Edinburgh, very frequent and inexpensive , remember to offer the correct fare so take coins and don't offer notes!
