The Terrace Hotel has been in existence since the 1930s and has been run by the present owners for nearly 30 years. The building and whole Terrace were designed by William Playfair in 1820 and the Terrace Hotel was built in the 1840s. Now classified as a Guest House by the Tourist Board, as it has no bar or restaurant, we are within easy walking distance of most tourist attractions. Prices from: £30 per person/night
The Terrace has 14 bedrooms on three floors - 11 with ensuite facilities. Most rooms are spacious - with several family rooms. All rooms have TV tea/coffee facilities central heating and supplementary heating for use as required. It enjoys many Georgian architectural features, including stone grand staircase with cupola above, beautiful lounge and dining room with elaborate cornices and some bedrooms with original fireplaces.

The back rooms enjoy views of the hotel garden, the adjoining gardens, the private park beyond and glimpses of Arthurs Seat through the trees. The gardens teem with wildlife including birds (and birdsong) squirrels, cats and foxes. The upper rooms at the front have views over the Firth of Forth and Leith and the Kingdom of Fife in the distance. We also have a beautiful tuned piano in the lounge for guests use!
There is plenty of parking in the Terrace, costing £1.00 per hour 8.30am - 5.30pm, during weekdays (free at weekends). Our staff are happy to help you arrange your car parking. A full Scottish breakfast is included.

The hotel is just a 10 minute walk from the St James Centre which has a John Lewis department store. The Meadowbank sports centre and Ocean Terminal shopping centre are both nearby, whilst the main thoroughfare of Princes Street is a 15 minute walk away, providing access to numerous historic attractions and galleries. The Playhouse Theatre is only a 5 minute walk away.
