Sleeping 4 persons, Lawnmarket is as central an apartment as one can find in Edinburgh. Located on the first floor (US: second floor), you can see the balastrades under the windows to the right of the photograph below. The photograph also shows how close it is to Gladstone's Land, to the left, a historic preservation of a typical house in the Royal Mile as it was in the 1600s. Access to the apartment is by the usual Edinburgh-style shared stairs, and once inside it has two bedrooms, a bathroom and an open plan sitting/ dining room/ kitchen.
The bathroom has a bath with shower and the flat is equipped with an electric oven, gas hob, microwave oven, washing machine, fridge and freezer, TV and DVD. The kitchen area has a view of the 16th and 17th Century tenements of the Royal Mile.

The whole area is steeped in history, and here you are only about 200 metres down from Edinburgh Castle itself. At the other end of the Royal Mile, just under a mile away, is the Palace of Holyrood House and the Scottish Parliament. All around are cafés, places to eat, pubs and shops, including Edinburgh Woolen Mill just below the apartment, and the best cheese shop in Edinburgh just around the corner.
